FEAR OR OCD

FEAR OR OCD?

written by Somtochukwu Onuzulike

Goose bumps!  That ugly heaviness in my soul

Don’t ponder or even the heavens may seem so grim
Don’t think of it! Don’t think of it! The voice warns
There’s no telling what might happen if the thought lingers
I block off all images exhibited in my mind’s art display
The one where I travel to slumber-land and never return
The one where an endless succession of cars crushes me
The one where my abode is blown to bits and pieces by an incoming asteroid
Or the other version where it’s a bomb by red-eyed men in kaftans
Nothing remains but rubbles and bits of charred flesh
I hide those images from my mind’s eye
A sign of the cross and a book or a movie for distraction
But the next day it comes back, and the day after it, and the day after it
It never stops and probably never will.
